Summer 2022 Newsletter

Dear Friends,   I have visited Northern British Columbia a few occasions this year. The last time I flew to Fort St. John, I was sitting next to a First Nations man on the plane and we had a wonderful conversation. He has spent all his life in Dawson Creek and he talked about his city, his family, and the beautiful landscape in Northern BC. Inspired by our conversation, I wanted to learn more about Indigenous peoples and their cultures. The poem I included in this newsletter is part of the Tea and Bannock Stories: First Nations Community of Poetic Voices,...

For There Are Always Hope and Light   "In visions of the dark night I have dreamed of joy departed— But a waking dream of life and light Hath left me broken-hearted. Ah! what is not a dream by day To him whose eyes are cast On things around him with a ray Turned back upon the past? That holy dream—that holy dream, While all the world were chiding, Hath cheered me as a lovely beam A lonely spirit guiding. What though that light, thro' storm and night, So trembled from afar— What could there be more purely bright In...

"I am worthy of love capable of great things allowed to express myself able to attend to my needs fine just the way I am" - Olivia   One morning my daughter brought me these lines painted on a piece of paper and highlighted in beautiful blue watercolour. She told me this was a gift from her. She wanted me to remember these important things about myself. I found it so loving and inspirational I thought I would share it with others. It is hanging on the wall now. When I look at it every morning, it always puts a...

Spirit Circle in Fall 2020

Dear All,   I am so grateful for our meditation Circle. The summer sessions were very nice, we had smaller groups, and had lovely conversations. The Circle really starts to feel like a beautifully forming little meditation community and as long as we feel comfortable and safe, I will keep it going.  I cherish every opportunity to connect with friends and neighbours and people I am just getting to know. Some of my friends felt more comfortable with going for walks this summer than coming to a group meditation and I was so happy to go for those walks with...

"In a tangling forest Once we are lost Somehow we stumble Upon a steady waterfall Butterflies flutter frantically Both in our souls and in branches A single cherry blossom Leaned into the waterfall As you pulled me deeper Underwater now we're falling The simple grace of your smile Eases me to believe and breathe And ever so kindly You hold me in the rain" - Cheyenne Raine   [caption id="attachment_1700" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo by Jakub Lisowski[/caption] Beautiful spring. Sunshine, wind, cherry blossoms, long walks in the forest, laughter in the park. A time for inner journeys and outer connections. Connecting...

Spirit Circle in Winter 2020

"When there is hope in the heart, a smile can be found on the face." - Sri Chinmoy   Meditation is one of the most enjoyable and effective ways to find inner peace and balance, gain new perspective on stressful situations, enhance self-awareness, focus on the present, and increase imagination and creativity. My hope is to bring the joy of meditation to more and more people. I started offering meditation sessions outside of my home to groups of any size, and I am currently working on recording some of my own guided meditations. These guided meditations will be available on my website...
