Happy Holidays!
I would like to dedicate this holiday newsletter to the chakras.
Partly because the colours of the holidays correspond to the colours of three out of the seven main chakras – green, white and red – and partly because I am introducing a new guided meditation in the spirit of the holidays. This meditation is about the third eye chakra, and the purpose of the meditation is to strengthen our intuitive abilities, in particular our inner seeing.
Chakras are energy centres that are connected to our aura, a multi-layered energy field around us.
The concept of chakras is related to the early Hindu concepts of a physical body and a subtle body. The subtle body includes the mind and emotions, and is made up of energy that influences the physical body.
The Sanskrit word chakra (cakra in Sanskrit) means “wheel” or “cycle”. In many Eastern and spiritual belief systems, chakras are thought to be spinning wheels of energy that correspond to points in the body where life energy flows.
Chakras are located along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head. They provide energy that helps the mind, organs, and intellect function well. They are also connected to bundles of nerves and major organs.
Chakras affect our emotional and physical well-being. When chakras are in balance, life energy can move through them which can promote vitality and a sense of well-being.
The number of chakras varies by tradition, but the most well-known model in the West is the seven-chakra system. Each chakra has its own colour.
These are the seven main chakras:
Root chakra: colour red; represents our base; located at the base of the spine or tailbone, and associated with survival, physical stability, and grounding. This chakra’s aim it to help ground and centre ourselves, connect to nature, feel safe and secure, and expand our capacity to create.
Sacral chakra: colour orange; represents our emotional life; located in the lower abdomen, below the navel, and associated with sexuality, and emotions. This chakra’s aim is to help us feel joyful and creative, grow to emotional maturity, and honour our desires.
Solar plexus chakra: colour yellow; represents how we interpret what happens in life; located between the navel and diaphragm, and associated with personal power, intellect, self-identity, and self-esteem. This chakra’s aim is to help feel your self-worth, open yourself to clear thinking, and realize your unlimited potential.
Heart chakra: green or pink colour; represents how you relate to love; located in the middle of the chest, and associated with love. This chakra’s aim is to help with self-acceptance and inner peace, loving ourselves and others, forgiving ourselves and others, expressing our love, and achieving our heart’s desire.
Throat chakra: light blue colour; represents your self-expression and communication skills; located in the center of the throat, and associated with communication, truth, teaching, and expression. This chakra’s aim is to help with hearing and speaking the truth, being open and honest, and finding ways of authentic self-expression.
Third eye chakra (eyebrow chakra): dark blue colour; represents your intuition, your sixth sense, and a sense of purpose; located between the eyebrows; and associated with vision, wisdom, and intuition. This chakra’s aim is to help to see and think clearly, see the ‘big picture’, be insightful and intuitive, expand our awareness, and trust our intuition and decisions.
Crown chakra: purple or white colour; represents living your highest calling; located at the top of the head, and associated with enlightenment and spirituality. This chakra’s aim is to help with feeling connected as a spiritual being, feeling infinite, boundless, one with all, and at peace.

The fables help to understand the themes of life, heighten our intuition, and give us the spiritual tools to make meaningful changes in our lives.

The pictures in this newsletter pay homage to the seven main chakras, in particular to the heart, crown and root chakras – green, white and red. The holidays are filled with these colours: the Christmas tree, the holy and the mistletoe, the snow, the candles and the angels, the Christmas decorations and candies, and Santa Claus for the little ones.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
With love,
Anita
